Today I was standing at the paddock gate looking at Izzie and she walked right up to me. Then when I returned to the paddock with her halter and lead rope, she walked towards me and stood halfway (as usual) so I kept walking in a different direction and next thing I knew, she was walking beside me. This is a very dramatic change for her. She has an equine masseuse come in every couple of weeks to work with her and I am noticing lots of changes - for the better. I am so proud of her - we are both moving forward together and it is very exciting. I am so lucky that I found this amazing girl.

You might be lucky, but l think Izzie won the lottery, though she doesn't fully realize it yet. It sounds like she's getting there.  |

Had the most wonderful day with Izzie yesterday. Her massage lasted an hour and a half and her back and front legs were given a bit more attention as she hates them being touched. We even got in some sneaky ear touches. Whenever the masseuse would work on an area she didnt like, she would either try to move towards me or turn her head to see where I was. I can see the trust starting to build in her and it is the most wonderful feeling. I saw the property where she will be agisted when I move to the country next year. He has a special yard for her if she doesnt get on with the other 2 horses and is building a shelter for her and thinks he will fence off another 2 paddocks for her as well. What a truly kind hearted person. I know she will be very well looked after - however, I will be seeing her every day. This little girl never ceases to amaze me and to be able to see her everyday will be an answer to my prayers |

Agreed! I'm sick, so slept in very late...I just had my tea and was checking the forum on my phone. There was another thread that I had to reply in after checking some information, so I ran to the computer and am now looking at other posts. I am so happy for you, Jan! SO happy!!!!  |

Izzie followed me around a like a dog today. It was so amazing. Every time I turned around, there she was right behind me. Other times she would walk beside me. I actually got to groom her legs which is the first time I have ever done it. We spent some quiet time together which was really special. I can feel the bond growing between us and it is the best feeling in the world - to have this wild girl who hated humans make the connection. The massages are really changing her - she is more confident and tolerates me a lot better now. One of the larger ponies in the paddock was euthanased this week - have been expecting for a while. So now it looks like Izzie's best friend Possum will be moving into the paddock. I am so pleased for the both of them as I take Izzie to visit Possum whenever I am there and they love hanging out together. She really is the best pony in the world |

How lovely that the massage helps her to view people differently, and not just her masseuse. Is the theory behind it just the obvious, or is there something magic about massage and horses?

The massage helps her muscles relax - her masseuse said she was very tense and thought she might be holding on to fears. I don't know how it works but it has made a huge difference to her - she has gone ahead in leaps and bounds.

Muscle tension is usually emotionally rooted, in my opinion... It would make sense for massage to help her release and let go of that stuff. Really fantastic that you are having so much success with her!
