Yesterday Oscar found either a small piece of loose skin or perhaps little hairs on my ears above the earlobe where the bendable parts are... lol...
Anyway he was pulling and plucking and truly enjoying himself and since it did not really hurt at the time I allowed him to continue. Well as time goes on my right ear starts to get sore.... he moves over to my left ear. Uh huh... now that ear is red and sore.
Today he tries the same areas and although I yell OW... he doesn't stop. (perhaps for a second)... I finally figured out a way that he could stay on my shoulder but leave my ears alone..... duhhhh took me long enough. All I had to do was put my hair down and taaaa daaaah he stopped. He doesn't like my long hair. When he tries to preen it he usually just breaks it.... or it gets stuck in his toes and he doesn't like that.
OK... I got him from biting my ears and now Mr. smarty pants has moved down to my earlobes. I didn't mind at first as it has been a while since a male has nibbled my earlobes... lol.... but soon enough .... here I sit ..... yelling OW OW OWOWOW!!! lol What a slave I am... now he is gotten me to let him eat me alive.... lol

As I have mentioned before, at least half the reason I keep my hair long is because it acts as a very effective shield.
Obviously not easy to avoid, but do you think yelling OW might be encouraging him to nibble? He might find that reaction exciting.

I have short hair, so I have to fold up my shirt collar or put up the hood of my hoodie. They are such opportunists (I call Bonnie the "Spawn of Satan").

Ow does, indeed, encourage rather than discourage, at least with Clyde. He repeats "ow" and chuckles. Or he'll say "quit!" and chuckle. He saves a certain maniacal laugh for these occasions. Distraction is your only hope now. Food will probably do the trick. Offer a treat, preferably something he can't resist. These are the occasions when Clyde (and Jade, even if she's across the room, because it wouldn't be fair otherwise) get sunflower seeds. "Here. Eat this. Stop dismantling your mother!"

Excellent advice. I hadn't thought that OW might be exciting for him. Thanks for saving my ears.... and you are correct Siobhan... food works really well.

I will add a caveat: if Clyde is really bent on Mommy Destruction for whatever reason (and don't try to figure out the reason; it will only give you a headache) he will reject the food, throw it at me and use very improper language while chomping me for punishment. Thankfully Jade, for all her anti-social tendencies, can ALWAYS be bought for food.

Last night I figured out a good way to stop Oscar eating my ears. I put some polysporin cream on them and he took one smell... and backed off. ha ha ha... I outsmarted the smarty pants once again.

Oh boy, you really believe you have beaten him don't you? He will be lulling you into a false sense of security. Just when you think you are safe, he will strike. They are like wind up toys - they just keep going and going and going. You cant beat them - you cant compromise with them - it is all about them and nothing else. Enjoy your new found freedom - it will be shortlived

Yup. He might give up on ears for now (until the day you forget to put the stinky stuff on) but he will just find a new project. Clyde used to chomp my earlobes regularly until he discovered eyebrow grooming. You would think that would be safe enough. Well, Mommy has a scar on one from a fall as a teenager and he is DETERMINED to remove that scar. By force. No part of your anatomy is entirely safe. Trust me on this.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Siobhan and Jan on this. Your smugness will not go unnoticed by Oscar. Oh, he may keep it to himself for a while, but he'll find a way to take you down a notch or twelve. I'd be very, very wary if I were you.

ha ha ha... so funny. These little guys are truly amazing. He already has my eyebrows trimmed quite well. I can't help it... the little nibbles on my earlobes feels really good. I do not doubt any of you one bit... I am sure the ears are not out of the picture yet. lol

Julianna, the others are right...you are definitely in the "denial" phase.

Ok... so he won't lay off my ears. Down goes the hair again.

Look at the bright side - you outsmarted him for how many days - or was that hours? Trust me, you will never win

I must find another way. I do not like my hair down... it is just too long and gets in the way of other things I want to do. I spend too much time putting it up and then down. Also Oscar gets stuck in it when it is down... so far no poop in it but that will come I am sure.
Any other ideas?
