Willow has a small hanging basket inside his cage. It came filled with little toys and sticks and palm finger traps. He was at first afraid of it but now likes it and likes to throw out all the toys. I put them back so he can do it again.
Today he wove a popsicle stick across the mouth of the basket. I’m excited! My old Quaker lived to weave and spent do much time doing that. She was never bored. I’d really like him to have something he likes to do, besides being pet and eating.
My good boy!!

Good for Willow finding something new to do. I imagine that he has lots of different things to weave with. Ralph likes to weave with things that are more flexible, but will build with solid things like his wooden dowels. Popsicle sticks are strictly for chewing up.

Willow hasn’t done much about the weaving. He seems to like his toys on shoelaces better, and I’m not sure how to safely supply laces.
I think the big joy is throwing each item out of the basket. This basket toybox has been such a successful toy!

If you can find some vegetable tanned leather laces, they're bird safe. That's one of Ralph's favorite things to use for weaving, and they can also be used to tie parrot toys to the cage. Ralph also weaves with plastic cable ties. He has lots of fun with those and of course I have to un-weave them so he can start all over.

I do have some cable ties and might have laces somewhere. I will go through the bird dresser.
I made the mistake of touching the scary mini shopping cart that holds some of willows toys, and actually got bit in the lip. But it was my fault. Then when I had Jasper out for evening bird time, I knew I was safe.
How dare I buy shiny bird toys!
