If all goes well I'm hoping to bring a 7 month old male quaker into my flock soon. He was super friendly when I went to meet him and cuddled up to me almost immediately. I have a cockatiel already, around 4 named Marcy. I am really hoping they get along well, if they don't it's okay of course but I feel like she could really use a gentle and outgoing bird to help her open up too. If anybody has any experience with how well quackers can get along with other birbs let me know! I don't plan on keeping them in the same cage, but nearby where they can see each other at least.
Also I'm aware that these birds have a difficult puberty at a year, I figure I will have plenty of time to bond before then, but if you have any advice for nurturing cuddliness and helping him deal with the frustrating emotions he'll probably end up feeling, please share. I hope to become one of you very soon

Welcome to the Quaker Parrot Forum! Hope that everything works out for you and you can bring your new feathered friend home soon.
Along with my QP Ralph, I had an African Grey parrot for several years. I adopted Scooter the Grey after Ralph had been an only parrot for about 6 years. I can't say that they ever became best friends. Mostly they accepted the fact that they were both here and they each went about their own business. Sometimes they would chatter back and forth, and they liked to watch to see what the other one was doing. I never had them both out of their cages at the same time. I was pretty sure that if they were out together there was bound to be some kind of disagreement. Scooter passed away in September, 2022, and Ralph still shows signs of missing her, so obviously they did mean something to each other.
I know there are other forum members who have or had more than one parrot at once, and maybe they'll share their experience too.
