Last night was the first time that I actually had to put Oscar into his house to go to bed. Geezzz What Happened? I am presuming he was afraid of something in his house but there was nothing unusual in there.
I am laying in bed around 6:00 p.m. watching news and usually when I go to my room and close the door, Oscar will just hang out... eat... and then eventually go to bed. Not last night. 6:30... he starts screaming... not the warning scream but just a lot of "look at me" scream. He does this for a good 15 minutes so I finally come out and ask him what is wrong. He sees me and dances all around begging me to pick him up... so I did. I gave him a piece of a cracker and put him back on his cage.... he seemed well.
7:00... again... non stop screaming. Now the curtains have been closed and lights dimmed so he knows it is time to get ready for bed. Nope... non stop calling. OK... 7:15 I get up and check him again. Husband says he has no idea what is going on... as this is very unusual. I check Oscar's house ... I put my hand in it... he gives the entrance his side glance... and then acts afraid.
OK... I take Oscar into my bedroom... lol.... I show him what I am doing and it is fairly dark in there.. so he wants out. Back to his cage we go. I put him down at the entrance... he peers inside but will not go in... again... I show him it is safe... putting my hand in. He walks in a little... turns around and comes out. Enough up and down... I go back to my room.
8:00... calling and calling. He has never made a noise after 7:00 (unless there is company here) so I have no idea what is wrong. But you think I am really well trained eh? lol.... This time I go and get Oscar... pet him and assure him everything is okay.... and I put him right inside his house. I remove my hand and look back.... and he is in attack mode towards me. I keep on walking to the bedroom.... and he stays put for the night. Hmmmm... he better behave this evening.

Sometimes they have nights like this. If Shah gets overtired during the day (he misses out on his midday nap) he is exactly the same and I cant get him to settle and he starts screaming as soon as I leave the room. So I get him up and after 5 minutes he is screaming to go back to bed - so back we go and then a couple of minutes later the screaming starts again and so it goes - back and forth like a jack in the box. If everything is normal in the cage then I wouldnt worry too much. Plus I think they enjoy seeing you run back and forth.

Is it possible there was a spider or something? Jade and Clyde have both had meltdowns over something I never saw, but Jade is very good about showing me what's bothering her if I prove to be obtuse. She will actually point at things with her beak. "THERE, Mom. How can you not SEE that!!!!"

I've never had that happen with Peppy, but sometimes Allie CAG gets phobic about something around her cage. She doesn't scream, but she makes it very clear she is afraid of something. I never find anything, but she does have better eyesight than I do. And she hears like a bat.

Maybe it could be a mouse? We've had this problem twice in the last three months. I found mouse droppings through Bonnie's cage, so we put a bird aviary trap on the floor and caught the mouse after a couple of days (a bird aviary trap is the type that doesn't hurt the mouse - it is a wire cage with a descending narrowing funnel from the top, so they go in and can't climb out again.

I am glad I am not the only one who has gone through this. Thank you all for your insight. Yesterday I decided to empty a lot of the tie wraps out of Oscars's house and that seemed to help. He went to bed last night like a little trooper. Yeah!!
