Kirby is weighing about 154 grams I think he is overweight a bit, can anyone give advice? Ne does he seeds is favorite are the safflower seeds he mostly eats them, he also eats pellets and chop so I am thinking about cutting down on his seed intake. He is 14 to 15 months old.

It does seem like Kirby is a little overweight. The range considered typical for QPs is 90 to 150 grams. Ralph weighs in at around 112 grams. It would probably help to cut back on the seeds. Try substituting more vegetables, maybe a little cooked pasta or quinoa in addition to the pellets and chop. Ralph only gets a little of the safflower seed mix after he's eaten most of his vegetables, grains and pellets. By then, he's too full to want much of the seed.

If you have an avian vet near you , you could take him for a checkup Though I’ve seen Quakers in a pet store near me that looked to be double Casey’s size. He’s around 92-94 grams and the ones I saw looked giant. They do come in all sizes, so keep feeding him healthy and that just might turn out to be Kirby’s healthy weight.

Yes, some Quakers have a big frame and some a very tiny frame. It would be best to have your vet assess if he’s overweight, and suggest how to manage it.
