Rita and her Fluffy little handful Chachi are back! Wanted to check in and say hello and see if I any names I recognize are still here!
Update on us.
We moved to North Carolina and Chachi is a homonal-egg-laying-beeoch! I had to move her into a different cage in my office (I work from home now) to take her away from her comfort zone - and the other birds to make her stop acting so Feral. Not cute in a cat or a previously adorkable Quaker!!
Anyways, I am here to see what others with similar puffs are doing to deal with this dilemma!
Again -- HI!

Welcome back. Hormones can be troublesome when they start raging. I've never really had huge problems with any of my parrots. QP Ralph occasionally gets nippy or squawky during hormone season, and he gets friendly with his rope perch. On one of his more intense days I usually try to overlook his bad behavior, but sometimes that's hard to do. He might get less out of cage time than usual and an earlier bedtime. Usually the rough spots don't last very long.

Welcome back! Hormones can be tricky. Casey is a boy and we’ve never had to deal with egg hormones. I think the key to help curb them is to reduce daylight hours and make sure they go to bed early. Also stick to a plain diet of just pellets without adding any cooked meals or mushy food. Cooked food can be perceived as regurgitated food from a mate.

She is on pelets. I am not "Sharing" my yum yums with her. Our bird room is bright all day - so I have her in my office - I may cover her earlier and not put her in the bird room in the evening when I wrap up with work. I just miss my playmate. Thanks for the welcome back and suggestions!

My boy likes to go to bed surprisingly early. I would make sure your hormone monsters are getting 12-14 hrs of darkness a night.
