So, I have been reading that coconut oil is the new "super food" that is supposed to be good for birds and humans. It can be ingested or applied topically. Any thoughts on this? I normally don't like to jump on bandwagons but I also won't not consider something that will make my FID live longer and healthier.

Good question. I always use red palm oil in bird bread, but the coconut oil discussion was under my radar.

Interesting question. I hope someone has tried it and can give us their opinion.

I don't know much about using coconut oil with birds, but my wife uses it as lotion after the shower every day. It seems to be one of the healthiest and most beneficial oils. I bet it would be good for birds... probably pretty tasty in a bread mix too.

I have read that qp's love coconut... so why not a little oil? I wouldn't want to be the first to try though.
