Hello, my name is Bo, 3 weeks ago became a quaker parent, his name is Freddie, (approaching 14 weeks) and just started weaning as per vet's advice. Any info- advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance❣

Hi Bo and Freddie and welcome to the forum, we got Casey at around 18 weeks and he was already weaned to pellets. So I dont have personal experiemce i do know it takes a few tries for a quaker to learn to like things so don't give up if freddy doesn't want to try new things.

Welcome! I have not weaned a baby parrot but I can bet you will have a lot of fun with the little devil while you get to know him.
Baby Quakers are awfully cute with the big beak and big eyes, too.

Happy to have you and Freddie join us on the Forum. I'm afraid that I have no experience with weaning a baby parrot. The vet you already consulted probably could give you any additional guidance and answer your questions. Online resources are available that might offer some useful information too, and maybe another member here will be along with some suggestions for you.

Welcome to the Forum, yolandi74. Please make an introductory post and tell us about your interest in Quaker parrots. If you already have a Quaker parrot or are considering getting one, we'd like to hear about it.

Any info- advice would be greatly appreciated - thank you in advance❣ I also haven’t weaned a parrot, but 14 weeks seems a long time/rather late to be weaning (as our quaker was only 8-9 weeks old when she started eating seeds/pellets). I wonder if the breeder didn’t go through the process prior to you bringing Freddie home? Anyway, sorry I can’t offer anything valuable here - but welcome to the Forum and we look forward to updates about how Freddie is going! 😀
