Breakfast time for Casey, today he got a small piece of toast and some fresh pear. I was also feeding the finches, so for a treat he enjoyed some finch seeds.

Looks like Casey is enjoying his breakfast. He has lots of fun things to play with too. No doubt he's very happy with his house.

Casey loves to chew on wood and leather. I am always remaking his toys with supplies from parrotdise perch. Years ago I took out rope perches and his boing as he was eating the strings and got sick.

Further proof that every parrot is unique. Ralph isn't much of a chewer. The only thing he really likes to chew up is popsicle sticks. He never chews on any of his perches, no matter what they're made of. I'm happy about that. George the YCA however was a prolific chewer. He loved to chew his wooden perches. He once chewed right through one of his wooden perches while he was sitting on it. Of course, he and the perch fell to the bottom of the cage. George pretended that he did that on purpose; his attitude and appearance seemed to say "I was tired of that perch anyway, and besides, I wanted to come down here to see if I can find something good to eat that I dropped..." What is Casey's absolute favorite thing to chew up?

Casey loves to chew on hard wood maple leaves, both the big and small, I always have bags of spares on hand to tie onto the leather strips

Unfortunately, Bonnie does not like to chew the things she should. Instead she chews things that are not safe for parrots - like her fabric happy hut - and she does it with stealth so that I can't immediately see where she has chewed. She made sure she chewed the BACK of the happy hut, which is out of my immediate view when I transfer her in and out of her sleeping cage. Little minx...so clever (and oppositional defiant, of course, like all parrots).
Now she can't have a happy hut anymore, unless I can work out how to make one out of wood/safe materials.
