A friend of mine came by the other night and brought her son to meet the flock. I was rather nervous about how the flock would behave. They seldom see anyone but us and occasionally, my brother. Maggie loves my brother but the others view him with suspicion. LOL
So my friend and her son came into the room and Maggie, as the Pigeon Queen, had to be the first to greet them. I had to explain what she wanted when she kept presenting her beak (you're suppose to take hold of it -- pigeon handshake). Clyde ran to Mama and hid behind my hair, but couldn't resist showing off his Green Giant impersonation and chuckling and giving me kisses after I introduced him as Chief Bird in Charge. Benjy flitted here and there and finally agreed to sit in my hand and allow himself to be admired. Jade hid in her cage but couldn't keep her big beak shut and showed off all the words she knows, including the naughty ones, but she sort of mumbled those. Freddie spread his wings and showed them how big and ferocious he is, but Johnny, surprisingly, stepped up for both the boy and my friend. Poor Johnny would probably like to get more attention than he does but Freddie usually talks him out of it.
We also visited the girls' domain and Ringo sat on my dressing table pretending to be a plush toy instead of the charming jester she usually is, so I think they weren't as taken with her, and it was too close to Trixie's bedtime for her to be very lively. Trixie would like to go to bed around 8 p.m. but is unfortunately stuck with Ringo for a roomie and Ringo is an owl in a starling's body.

LOL I love the pigeon handshake. That is great!
Sounds like it was a fairly good visit all things considered!
