My CAG has an evil sounding cackle, and at the end of a series she will take a deep, loud breath. I don't know where she learned it, but when she starts I like to join in with her. Today, Peppy added his voice. After a while his laugh morphed into his bok bok bok bok boooookkkk chicken impression, but he clearly was just doing what the rest of the flock was doing. We sounded totally demented.

I love it when Bonnie does her demented laugh (it sounds like a witch laughing - very exaggerated in pitch). Usually she joins in when I start doing it, but sometimes she does it without any prompting. This is usually when she sees a horror/spoof movie with screaming women or after she's been naughty and escaped up to her wall shelf to escape retribution.

I was reading about laughter with quakers and learned that the laughter of the favorite human is a tremendously powerful factor in the reinforcement of behavior in any parrot but especially so with the quaker. The favorite person should never laugh when quakers attack. Course I would not do this as I don't find it funny at all. Just thought the fact of laughter being so powerful was interesting and wanted to share.

There is a shelf in my step-daughters bedroom that is dimly lit when she is about to go to bed, and when Cupcake lands in just the right spot, her face is lit up in the dark like a person telling a scary ghost story with a flashlight under their chin. It is the cutest thing ever. The first time she landed there we all cracked up simultaneously and to this day she is always trying to find that spot at bedtime to make us laugh again. She doesn't always get it right, but it's very sweet. She also loves to chime in laughing when we are laughing about anything. She seems to really seek out the experience of laughing together. Laughter is definitely a huge deal for Cupcake.

Shah also loves laughing. He occasionally does it by himself, but most of the time he laughs when I laugh. I am told it is like my laugh in stereo. I put him to bed last - I was doing some stuff in the kitchen which is near him (I usually go to the other end of the house so I dont disturb him). He was softly quacking like a duck for such a long time. It was very cute

I've read that rats will laugh when you tickle them. Obviously more to learn about laughter regarding other species.

That is interesting about the laughing. Mr P LOVES to laugh when I do and as we know from his "damnit" MY laughter is a powerful reinforcement. Mr P, though, will take it one step further and laugh when he does something he finds amazingly clever, like snag a piece of food off my plate behind my back or climb up the couch to surprise me when I'm not paying attention.
I rescued a blue front amazon many years back that used to take a chomp out of your arm and laugh. I didnt teach him that obviously but his previous owners apparently thought drawing blood was funny.
Matter of fact, only that Amazon spoke in context as well as Mr P does.
