Mr P will not eat the pepper itself, but he sure loves to pick out the seeds. I discovered this accidently when trying to broaden his veggie horizons.

Wow... that is an awesome picture. I am going to try that the next time I give Oscar red pepper. I usually take the seeds out but I will leave them in now and see what happens.

Oh man... Eating the seeds off of the "pepper stump" as we call it has got to be one of Cupcake's most favorite things of all time. She goes crazy for them. Unless it is a green pepper. Then the enthusiasm is greatly reduced. Red orange or yellow are preferred. Oh and generally Cupcake won't eat the pepper either. . Sometimes if we hand feed it to her she will take a couple bites.

It's interesting that so many of our QPs won't eat peppers. I've tried several varieties of peppers, of varying heat levels and different colors (except for Evil Orange ) and he won't eat any of them-- but if I scoop out some seeds, he eats them with enthusiasm.

Bonnie LOVES the seeds from small red chillies. Once she sees them she can't contain herself - tries to go through my fingers to get to them (before I've put them in her food tray). She's a Psycho! She does eat a little bit of the chilli itself, but mainly the seeds. She also goes crazy over the seeds in any capsicum ('peppers' - red, green or yellow).

Well I found out yesterday Oscar does not want the seeds of the red pepper but only the pepper itself. He actually eats only the flesh part and will peel it away from the skin. He sucks the juice out and then throws the remainder everywhere. That stuff is sticky so it needs to be cleaned early or else it will stick to everything. He always says no thanks to green or yellow ones. Funny how the QP's are so similar in many ways yet so different at the same time.

I wish she would eat the pepper itself.

One thing they all seem to share is the propensity to just chuck their leftovers over as large a surface as possible.

Thanks! Now that I can at least theorize that it doesn't mean something is wrong, the yellow feather is growing on me as well It is pretty cute.

I've never thought of giving my birds pepper cores. I'll have to try that. Yes, Cupcake's yellow feather is a real mark of distinction.

Cupcake doesn't stop until every single pepper seed is off the core. We even asked our vet to make sure they were ok because for a while Cupcake was getting more than one a day and he said there is no concern with eating lots of pepper seeds. Yeah, I kinda hope the yellow feather sticks around now... But I bet it will be gone with the next molt.

Yup, Kermit loves the dried seeds out of chili peppers. Will tear the pepper apart to get to the seeds. Never tried fresh seeds from a red/yellow pepper before. May try that sometime.
