Hi all I have been a member for many years popped in every now and then to read but that is all
I have an 18 year old male quaker "Studley" love him dearly but he can't be handled to much he likes to watch on his own terms and as a rescue who's previous life experiences were pretty horrific I have respected his choices and am honoured he sees me as a friend not a danger . He enjoys being around us but prefers his companions in the cages around him a 17 year old female Ekky and a 3 year old crippled caique who gets around just fine in a modified cage :-)
My re appearing in the group is...... I have recently adopted and finished hand rearing a little blue quaker "Murphy" who was not thriving well in his original surroundings he was fading :-( But he is now a good weight and a very out going if not bombastic but talented young 10 week old :-) I ....We. We being myself my daughter her 16 year old son and a 6 year old grand daughter live in the same house. And basicly There is no shortage of new faces and sounds all the time lol and being in Australia we have the many wild birds we feed outside lol a very busy house hold
I have to be firm and pull him "murphy" up a bit more than any other bird I have owned. But he gave us so much love and entertainment That when I was told of another bird this time green not related to previous bird I seriously consider it for almost 24 hours lol before we jumped at the chance this one has stress marks on his feathers had been ill so has a few discoloured feathers from previous medications etc vet cleared as healthy (the stress bars and discoloration will go in a moult but for selling purposes I guess a new owner may not have been so understanding of his colourings etc and size compared to the rest of his clutch he had had a crop infection :-( He is 8 weeks old and a lot shyer and noisier He came with a sister Blue colouring that a friend has taken This bird is healthy a good size and very sure of herself . since my daughters friend had grown to love these birds as she has followed Murphy's development since he was 4 weeks old and loves him dearly she loves the idea of cuddles and smooches from a bird. She has a Gallah that she rescued years ago that will not be handled but loves to talk and be around the family from the safety of a very large avery cage ...(he got out once but came back three days later walking down the footpath to tired to fly and just wanting his cage and food .. and defiantly not so eager to get out ever again lol I am thinking the wild cockatoos, correllas and galahs were not so understanding of a bird that did not belong in there territory at that time with young around in the trees lol......
This is the last of the birds for me and for this house a lot of work a lot of love and a lot is given in return but this is it lol and these two are full on
Lyn slave to her featherd, furred and human family
I hope this bad weather you are experiencing eases soon and you are all cosy indoors....I can't imagine what it would be like to live under the conditions weather wise that i see on the news for all of you in America and England at the moment
