Hello all! I adopted my first parrot, Charm about a week ago. We've both been learning from each other. With all the information out there on parrots, how do you know (if you ever do) what information to adhere to? I'm so overwhelmed and I wonder if I'm getting too much information. Your thoughts on how you dealt with it. Thank you! Happy Wednesday to you all Mary (Mom to Charm/2 month old Quaker Parrot)

I found a TON of amazing information on www.birdtricks.com. I actually first found them on youtube and then found their site. AMAZING stuff that helps with so much. But if you have any specific questions... shoot them this way and I'll do my best to help. I've only owned a bird for a year now so I'm nowhere near as experienced as some of the people on here with over 10 years of experience, but I can tell you what I've learned in the past year and how I've dealt with specific issues.

There is a lot of conflicting information out there and it can be confusing, and there are always new things to learn too. Even with my 50-plus years of living with parrots, I'm still learning new things all the time. If you have specific questions, this Forum is a good place to ask them. Someone here may have a satisfactory answer for you. There are some good books about parrots available too. One specific to QPs I recommend is Mattie Sue Athan's Guide to the Quaker Parrot. Her Guide to Companion Parrot Behavior is a good general parrot book. I also recommend Bonnie Munro Doane's Parrot Training. You'll find lots of useful information in all of them.

We are always here if you have any questions. What works for one parrot may not work for the other. You will find things that work for you.
