Hi everyone! I became a mommy to my 5 month old blue quaker last wednesday. I'm waiting to name him/her until the DNA results come back. The names I have picked out are Yogi for a male and Luna for female. I had the scare of my life friday night because my baby was not eating, drinking, or being active at all. Then he started sitting in the bottom of his cage, so I took him to the vet. They put him in ICU with oxygen, heat, and nebulizer. They said he had a respitory infection. They let me bring him home last night, and he's been acting better and eating and drinking. He's still not really active but I think that is expected after him being sick. Anyway, that's our story Again, Hi everyone!

Welcome to the Forum! Glad that Yogi/Luna is feeling better-- you did well in getting him to the vet quickly to get treated. Your new QP has been through a lot and will need time for things to calm down a bit so he can get comfortable in his new home-- as he feels better and settles in, he'll be more active. For now, just sit near his cage and talk softly to him, to help him get used to you and the sound of your voice. It will undoubtedly be comforting to him too to have you nearby while he continues to recover from his illness.
