I was taking the dogs out this morning when I heard Benjy shriek. Fortunately, his "HEY!" shriek is slightly different from his "I'm really in trouble!" shriek so, since the dogs were hopping from one foot to the other, I went ahead and took them out and checked on him when we got back in. Jade had pulled his tail again, and thoroughly because the feathers are all mangled, but he's okay and was sitting on her cage. Jade was looking very pleased with herself, and Benjy is not otherwise damaged, so if he's so dumb he'll go right back for more, though he has a whole room in which to avoid her, I didn't even really scold her. I said, "You pulled his tail, didn't you? That was mean." And she just bobbed her head and chuckled. Don't think for a minute that she didn't understand every word I said. The stinker.

"I dare you to pull my tail, Jade. HEY!!! Mommy, she did it-- she pulled my tail!" Maybe you should explain to Benjy the philosophy behind the adage "Once bitten, twice shy," and talk to him about tempting fate too.

She hasn't done that for a while. He must have let his guard down. That will teach him

talk to him about tempting fate too. Oh yes, good point...Bonnie and I have reached an 'understanding' about her new favourite game of nipping my finger wrinkles/neck and saying 'OW!'. The understanding is that when she does that, I hold the end of her tail (gently) between my thumb and forefinger and say 'OW!' back. Today she was doing endless '360s' trying to reach her tail - hours of fun, with the added bonus of her wanting to go to bed early (no doubt because of the extra exertion and squawking).
Benjy now needs to work out how to apply the adage "what goes around comes around". Good luck, little man!
