Hi, I am a new member, sandy lap. I have a four year old quaker. She was a real sweet heart until just recently. She started acting strangely so I took her to the vet. It seems she's a girl which I did not know and she is hormonal. The last couple of times I've had her out of her cage, she has been sitting quietly on my shoulder and out of nowhere has attacked me. She seems to want to get my face. She bites hard and keeps flying at me. I'm actually afraid of her now. I have two other birds - Damon, a caique and Phoebe, a sun conure. Finn, my female quaker hates Phoebe and actually attacked her just recently so badly I had to take her to the vet. She seems to be in love with the caique but always when she's out she spends time with me. Any advice for how to handle this? I love my bird but she bites hard and even draws blood. Thank you.

Hi Sandy. Two posts within minutes of each other with the same problem - biting quakers! I'm going to suggest you start at the same place I recommended to the other poster: www.stfrancisanimalandbird.com/ResourcesLibrary/?page_id=214Theres a a lot of accumulated wisdom there about the bite and how to deal with it, and also about how to handle the hormones.

Hi Sandy, hope things are improving for you...we have trouble with our quaker biting too, sometimes. I think you will find this is a very common problem that can take time to remedy, if you can stick with it. Don't give up!
