Hello Everyone
I am new to this list, and thought you should have a little info about my background:
I have lived in Australia for almost thirty years, and was born in England. Although I do not currently have any domesticated birds I have in the past had a Crimson Rosella, and when I was younger my mother had firstly an African Grey and then a Yellow Fronted Amazon. I am divorced and my children are in their late twenties. My carer (I am physically disabled) and I own our home on a couple of acres in New South Wales. We have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels which are show dogs, and we breed them when we are ready for a puppy ourselves. We also have a fourteen year old blue Burmese cat (who is a house cat with an outside run as I will not permit her to hunt wild birds or animals). We also have aquarium fish.
I have recently been very taken by two blue Quakers, which are hand reared and currently for sale pending DNA confirmation of gender. Obviously I am only just starting my research into these appealing birds, and will almost certainly miss out on these two beauties. However, I will not buy any animal without thoroughly learning as much as I can to determine whether a BQ is right for me, and at least as importantly whether I am right for a BQ.
I look forward to 'meeting' all of you, and would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and successful year in 2015.
With best wishes
Pippa

Hi Pippa, welcome! I, too, am in Australia and have a Blue Quaker (Bonnie). Whilst quakers are 'high maintenance' (you will find this out from reading lots of posts on this forum), it is very rewarding to have one and ours brings us lots of pleasure...and angst! Hope you find enough info on here to help you decide.
