Well.... today was the day that Oscar would get a trim and since the woman who usually did it would not this time, I asked Oscar's ex-mom if she knew someone and she said that she could do it. So she came over today and she was so happy to see how good Oscar looked and he has such freedom but unfortunately I do not think Oscar recognized her. She had him for almost two years. I felt bad for her as he did not want to go on her finger unless I put him there and was scared to be on her shoulder.
Anyway... we went to the bathroom and she showed me how to hold him and she gave him a little (very little) trim. In the process Oscar gave her a good bite drawing blood.... ooops. He hates scissors and because she was holding them.... she gets the bite. I felt bad but she took it well.
It all went very well. Oscar is back to his normal routine and I am one happy Mom. Maybe next time I will be able to do it myself.... hopefully with no bites.

Sounds like it's something you could do yourself. I don't know how you would stop Oscar biting (short of wrapping his head in a tea towel, which would probably damage your relationship... ). I understand how bad you feel about him biting other people - Bonnie took a chunk out of my father-in-law's finger yesterday (he was holding a glass, and Bonnie always pecks at transparent/shiny metal objects - he made the mistake of putting his hand over the top of it, so she pecked the next closest thing). Well, at least Oscar and you survived the feathercut!

Jade is absolutely terrified of scissors and it's not a typical Quaker taking notions kind of thing. It's abject terror. I have to hide them with my body when I have to use them to open food packages. I don't think I want to know why. But none of my birds get clipped, so she only has to see them from across the room.

Wow.. that is amazing. I always thought Oscar was scared of scissors due to the trimmings but it goes to show you that we do not know what they really are thinking.

He is cute but very mischievous...

Thanks, Beauty14582, father-in-law's finger is healed now! We still don't know why Bonnie attacks him but not other people...
