Pipa is trying like mad to say Hello!! It's not clear but it's definitely what she's trying to say!! The past couple days she's really gotten comfortable in her new home. I just adore that gal.

Congratulations. It's very exciting when you hear their first understandable words! Bonnie learnt 'hello' first, then 'good girl' and 'step up'. I'm actually amazed she doesn't say 'no', 'just be QUIET!', 'bobblehead' or 'bugger bird', as they are the things she's heard from us the most!

I was ridiculously excited. I was bobbing up and down in front of her cage saying hello over and over lol, I will also admit I may have gotten a bit emotionl. I'm scared to know what other words she may pick up around this house. I'm being very careful!

Awwww, it is so exciting when they learn to talk! Chewy's first phrase was...either "step up" or "good boy!" LOL

It really is Dani. I wonder what her second word will be.
I really can't get over how incredibly smart they are. To read it is one thing, to witness it is a whole other.

LOL I TOTALLY get what you're saying! Reading about people's FIDS talking is really fun, and you know that it's a possibility for yours to talk...but the second you hear "Hello" or "Step up" for the first time, your (at least my) jaw hits the floor and the happy dance commences.

That is one of the things we cherish most is hearing them talk. I am glad that you are getting that awesome experience.
Oscar talks mostly when no one is in the same room as him however, is he getting a little better at lease with me around.... no so much the hubby. My husband decided today to get a motion sensitive camera so that he could tape Oscar talking and then be able to play it back. Seems only when he goes in the basement that Oscar will start calling his name or saying his favorite things. I am sure the camera will work as it is remote control.... and now I am anxious to set it up as well. Who knows what Oscar does when I am not home? Should be interesting.

Good job Pipa! Pretty soon, that "hello" will probably be louder and clearer after Pipa gets in a little more practice. It's nice that she's learning to say something you want her to say. It doesn't always work out that way. The first thing Ralph learned to say was "wait, wait, wait, wait, wait!" Whenever he'd squawk for attention and I was busy with something else, I'd say that to him, never expecting Ralph to repeat it.

I taught Shah to say hello by saying "hell" very high and then the "o" low so it is easily recognisable when he says it. However, Monkey Breath is clear for all to hear!

Well... so much for tapping Oscar talking while we are out of the room. The camera worked wonderful.... but when you played it back there basically was no sound only howls of feedback. It seems that because our router is located in the basement and everything upstairs is wireless, the sound is not going to work (unless of course I move the router upstairs but I am not going to do that as there are other computers hooked up to it downstairs). Soooooo the camera goes back to the store and once they come out with a better model I will try again. He will be in the movies one day....lol

You could try a GroPro camera. They're not that cheap ($200-350?) but you would not need to use your router and you'd get no feedback noise. You could set it up on a tripod and choose either wide/medium/narrow angle. The picture and sound is pretty clear too on these things. The only drawback would be that you'd get about 1-2 hours continuous recording and would have to check through later...just a thought. And then you can use it to film all your stunts as well (e.g., basejumping, skydiving, rollerblading, motorcycling, parrot tricks...or Oscar building/relocating his house .
