We actually know Jade's birthday, unlike nearly all the critters, whose gotcha days have to suffice. I can make a good guess on Freddie's birthday because the breeder told me he was 8 weeks when I got him at the bird fair, and the people we got our dog Jack from knew his birthday but that's it. A few days ago was Maggie's gotcha day and Jade's is on Sunday. I counted back today and it's 6 years since we got her, though it seems a lot longer. Have I only been a crazy bird lady for six years?  Clyde turned up on our bird feeder in May 2008. We got Bonnie (RIP) in October that year and Jade in January 2009 and she was really the tipping point for crazy birdness. LOL After that the others came thick and fast. |

MBS is a horrible disease, isn't it??  Start with one teeny tiny little bird and soon you have another, then another, then you want still another. Soon you are finding feathers in your underwear, inside your socks, under the couch, everywhere!! Warn everyone you know that MBS is contagious, as well. Your friends see your birdies and soon THEY want one ..... or two ....... or six!!! |

Happy gotcha day to Jade - and many more of them. It is Shah's slave's birthday today and he gave me a wonderful present. He hasn't plucked a feather or bitten himself all day - I couldn't ask for anything better.

Happy Gotcha day to Jade (and happy birthday to Shah's slave, Jan). Bonnie's 1st Gotcha day will be coming up later this month - Siobhan, we can't even remember life without Bonnie after only 1 year!

Jade is celebrating by ordering me to stop making changes to the birds' room. I hung a swing up today that nobody wanted, in the hope that if it were hanging next to the new boing, it might not be as scary as it apparently was when I tried hanging it in various cages. She didn't like that. Then I felt a draft so I found and plugged it and she didn't like that, either. I folded a couple of curtains that I pulled out of a cabinet in search of something else and that wasn't acceptable, either. Nor was the search. I don't think she likes the sweater I'm wearing today.
Happy birthday, Jan, and that's great news about Shah!

It sounds like Jade enjoyed her Gotcha Day by doing things she enjoys. Happy Birthday Jan! Hope that Shah's good behavior will continue. |
