Our Quaker is making a cooing sounds, we're concerned it's a growl as we heard that they will growl. Thoughts?

Well, there are heaps of sounds Bonnie makes. One is like a purring noise when she is content (when scratching her head or under her beak/chin). She has an 'annoyed' sound a bit like a seagull and quite a few others, which we just worked out what they meant (from her behaviour and reactions) as we went along. They sure are versatile little birds!

A QP's growl typically doesn't sound like cooing-- it more closely resembles a dog's growl. If a QP is annoyed or angry enough to growl at something, his/her body language will usually match the mood.
The Quaker purr is a lot like a cat's purr, and is the sign of a happy and contented parrot.

I love the cooing noises. So sweet. I did however hear my first scream this morning as I was getting ready for work. It terrified me. I went running thinking she was stuck. Only to be greeted with a look from like I was crazy and a feather ruffle lol

They can be such little drama queens!
Update: As I type, Bonnie is sitting up on the wall ledge behind her favourite photo frame practising her repertoire of noises (lots of 'zipper' and kissing sound effects), squeaky words, whistles, whirs and clicks...I swear she sounds just like R2D2 from Star Wars.
