(this is gonna be long, sorry) Hi guys I'm new, I have a little blue Quaker named Lawrence (technically he's my mums but I named him) We got him as an adult and I'm not sure how old he is but we were told he was hand raised. He bites and squawks when you try to get him out of his cage so we've provided him with lots of toys and feed him and everything, but can't handle him. Well some wind tipped his cage over last night and we couldn't find him in the dark so we had to stop the search until this morning. My mum was up earlier than me so she had a look around and called out and it sounded like he was next door so she came and told me but had to go to work. I had a look around and he wasn't there so I looked around my yard some more. He answers to his name so I called out to him and he answered (they have a very unique squawk, don't they?) and it sounded like it was coming from the trees in our yard that hang over the fence so I went out and called him and he flew down to land on my arm, so he must've been hand raised to not have gone far and be glad that he was found. I took him into the house because he seemed to be pretty happy to be handled (he wasn't biting or being noisy) and we just kind of chilled for a bit, I got him some food and water and he was pretty happy, letting me pat him, but he started to get cranky after a bit and kept flying away from me so I tried to pick him up in a way that wouldn't stress him out but he was having none of that. I ended up having to grab him with a towel so he couldn't bite, and trust me, he was trying to. He's back in his cage now and I don't know if I'll be able to get him out again. I want to get him used to being handled again because he seemed a lot happier when he wasn't just in his cage. I want to get him to the point where he will let me pick him up and can maybe teach him some stuff. Any tips or advice?
