I gave the birds their present today, a second boing because Clyde won't share the first one with anyone but Benjy. Even if he's across the room or sitting on me, if one of the others lands on it, he has to go chase them off. So I got them a second one for Christmas (and a big bag of millet) and Jade griped and mumbled and yelled "what's the POINT" while I hung it up, but I left the room to put the tools away and came back and she was sitting on it. Next time I left the room and came back, CLYDE was on it. The two of them have been taking turns because Clyde also has to go sit on his to keep the others from sitting on it. LOL Of course, with two huge boings hanging down, sweeping and mopping and cleaning cages is going to mean I bonk my head on them constantly but, as I told Clyde the 14th time that happened today, the room is organized for THEIR comfort and not mine. He said "peekaboo" which I think means he agreed with that assessment.

Clyde is going to be kept very busy trying to keep the birds off his 2 boings.

The original is his favorite and that's where he goes when I let them out of a morning, but yes, he's going to get lots of exercise now flying back and forth guarding them both. LOL But maybe that will mean that Freddie and Johnny can use one They really like Clyde's, but he's such a dog in the manger about it that they almost never get to use it. Jade used to have a smaller one in her cage that her former family had given her, but it was so worn out that I had to pitch it when I redecorated her cage for her birthday a couple of years ago. That's why she likes the new one -- it looks just like her old one.

I hate to ask but is a boing one of those braided rope things?.... I am not familiar with the term. But still.... talk about possessive eh? lol.... These guys do not take well to changed things but really it is for the own good to change things around a little. Keep them looking and active. The book I read said that if you change their toys around about every month of so... it helps with the "in control" feeling that they sometimes get. When I try I usually get the evil eye.... lol.

It's a spiral rope perch that hangs from the ceiling, with a bell at the bottom -- I can't quite figure the purpose of the bell because it's in an awkward position for playing with, unless the idea is to let the humans know when the bird lands on or takes off from the boing. LOL Ours are both the biggest size, so when it's hung from the ceiling, the bottom hits me about the bottom of my rib cage. Theoretically, there should be enough room for four or five birds to use it at once, as long as one of those birds isn't Clyde.

I've enjoyed reading your posts about Clyde. He sure has a lot of personality.

Far more than his share, actually. LOL He has now decided he likes the new one best and sits on it (with Benjy the Brat Budgie) unless he's sitting on me, which leaves the old boing for the others to argue over. Unless, of course, Clyde is in a mood, and then he flies over to the old one to chase them off and back to the new one to hold court, with his faithful little acolyte always by his side.

You're just going to have to write that book. Sabbatical, anyone?

I can't take a sabbatical unless someone wants to pay the bills and buy bird food.

I just knew Clyde would claim both of them. He will sleep well at night as he will be kept very busy during the day.

True enough. If only following Clyde back and forth would tire Benjy out, too, but he is a perpetual motion machine.

I just had this mental image of a merry-go-round containing all your birds, fish and snails (instead of horses with poles). Clyde could be the overseer and chase it round in circles.

Plus me, hitting my head on the new boing at least once a day while I'm sweeping and cleaning cages. It's in a very inconvenient place. LOL
