I've had to reassess my diet radically over the last 2 years. I have dietary fructose malabsorption and histamine intolerance (between those two things, my diet is quite limited and boring). That's not to say I 'behave' though...but I pay for it 1-3 days later with stomach cramps and other unsavoury effects (enough said!). I have to read the label on every packaged thing I buy. For instance, 'hydrolised vegetable protein' usually means it contains onion powder, which I can't digest. The only sure way to know what I'm eating is to always buy fresh food and prepare it from scratch. Have to admit, though, the convenience of buying packets/pre-prepared sauces is a huge time-saver. After reading several studies, the really interesting thing is that full-fat/sugar products are actually better for you than the 'low-fat' stuff that most people think are healthier (because they are loaded with chemicals, etc.). I lost a heap of weight without even trying once I found out the fructose thing. Sorry to bore you guys with this trivia!
