My adopted 21 year old, biting, cage-bound Quaker, Peppy, is making progress. I've had him six months or so now, and have had to take him out of his cage a couple times, but otherwise have let him be where he is comfortable. Two days ago he was out on his porch and kept going into a "I'm gonna jump" stance, so I knew he was gaining confidence. Yesterday afternoon, he climbed down his cage to the floor, and proceeded to march around the living room, looking for all the world like a little king surveying his realm. He doesn't know step up yet and when I've presented my hand in the past, two things inevitably happen: I get chomped and he flies/hops away. This time he did try to get away once, but then he flew onto my hand and did not bite. I was very proud of him. I think we'll be able to go into training mode soon.

So Cool. I love it when Oscar comes walking with me. It took a lot of convincing for him to walk on the floor but now he is okay with it as he knows I am always there if something scary comes up. One time I was cooking in the kitchen and not paying enough attention to Oscar so he decided to join me. Not even thinking of him, something touched my toe and the first thing I did was shake my leg. Oh Lordy..... it was little Oscar and I had just moved him across the room. Yikes!!. Now I have eyes on him all the time cause I never know when he will sneak up on me. It sounds like you have a lot of patience and that is exactly what it will take for all training. Good Luck.

Hey, well done, go Easttex & Peppy. Considering he's most likely been in that behaviour for some time, you've done very well. It can only keep getting better!
