I have a friend who's an art teacher and she posted on Facebook that she was in need of storage bins of any and all sizes, if anyone had some to spare. I did, and I cleaned them up (bird poop, LOL) yesterday and stacked them up to take them to her today. I figured I'd better keep at least one, even if I don't have a use for it at the moment, because as sure as I gave them all away, I'd desperately need one the next day. But I couldn't decide which to keep. I had five of them, all sizes. Clyde was of course on my shoulder and I asked him to decide. I pointed to one and said "Should we keep that one?"
"SQUAWK," he said.
I took that for "no." I pointed to another. "How about that one?"
"CHIRP!" he said.
"Does that mean yes?"
"Ho-ho-ho," he said.
Jade was no help. She was yelling, "What IS the point? What is the POINT???" Good question, Jade.
Let's try again to make sure we all understand one another. Pointed to choice A: "Should we keep that one?"
"Ho-ho-ho."
"Or this one?"
"CHIRP" and a kiss on the cheek.
"Okay, we'll keep that one," I said, and packed up the others and set them by the door. I put the one we're keeping on the shelf underneath Freddie's cage (the only place I could think of to put it) and Clyde didn't even pull my hair for carrying a large object around as he normally would have. I suppose that means I understood his directions correctly.

Have you ever thought about writing children's books? I see some quirky possibilities there. Lots of characters you could use.

Some of my friends have told me I should write a book about the birds, and one of them suggested I not reveal they're birds until the end, just tell stories about them. I've started half a dozen times but with my job and playing music, I just don't have the time to devote to it. I've been thinking that's a good way to stay out of trouble someday when I retire.

Forget writing books, I see an entire TV series or Hollywood movie here...names anyone? The Clyde Bunch? Hey, I could contribute Bonnie as a character...Bonnie & Clyde? (Sorry, couldn't help myself)

We had a budgie named Bonnie who died a couple of years ago. That's about the same time Benjy decided to become Velcro Budgie and attached himself to my hand, where's he's been ever since.

Poor Benjy. Maybe you could keep a video diary of what all your birds get up to each week, then you can look back on it when you're ready to write your book. I've tried to take video clips of Bonnie doing entertaining stuff several times but she has an uncanny ability to sense something's up and always goes stubbornly quiet and still...

Same thing happens here. Oscar always knows when the camera is on him. I am thinking of purchasing a camera that I can turn on remotely so I can see and hear the things he does when he thinks we are not watching. That is usually when he does his best talking but lately he is opening up more and more and when he is in the mood, he will sit in the kitchen and repeat things that I say when I am in the living room.
I truly love the idea of a children's book on these birds. They can be so very funny and educational at the same time. Any time children come to my house.... the first thing they want is to see Oscar and ask a million questions. Last summer there was a school room full of children down in the park and I was outside with Oscar in my yard. When they saw him they all lined up to ask questions and were very excited to hear what he can do. The teachers thanked me dearly for the lesson and for making them all smile.

A video diary would not do at all. They all turn into plush toys when they see a camera. I should just keep a notebook by my chair in their room and scribble down stuff as it happens.
