Hi. Just joined. I am waiting on the arrival of my new quaker baby any time now. The baby is 8 1/2 weeks old. The breeder is coming this way so they are bringing him/her to me. I haven"t met the baby yet but have seen a pic. Little about me. I live in Florida with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. We have a big goofy lab named a Buddy and a silly cat Hannah. I have had a Quaker before but has been quite a while since then. I am very excited.

I hope you'll post pictures. Young birds are irresistible. Is he weaned?

Yes he is weaned. I ended up naming him Dragon. Kind of odd but I though about naming him that last night and then this morning my daughter comes out and also suggests Dragon. He is settling in pretty good. Eating fantastic and playing a little with his toys even. He is very sweet. Today we just let him chill and get used to the sounds and us a little. His cage is right in the living room so I was sitting by him most of the day. Heard a few chips out of him by this afternoon. I will post pics as soon as I figure out how to. I need to get them on y computer first.

He's cute. I can see he's a green dragon - his tail looks quite long for a baby. He looks OK about you taking his photo.

Yeah, he was fine about that. He's a little skittish but that is to be expected. He will eat food from my hands so that is progress. I just sit by his cage(like I am now) and talk to him. I know he will eventually warm up to me. I need to teach him to step up yet but will give him a few more days before I push that. He will let me reach in and give him scritches too. I know it's all about patience with these guys. My last quaker was only 4 weeks old and I weaned him out so that was a different start. He is weaned and eats fantastic. He just loves his roudybush pellets. Going to try and make some birdy bread today for him too. He did eat some apple and corn yesterday too. Didn't seem to crazy about the green beans though.
