Hello,
Anybody has experience traveling abroad with a Parrot? We live in Canada and we travel to Mexico often, of course, not these days because of the pandemic. But we will like to take Pepito with us when going to a resort Anybody has some tips or recommendations?

I've never traveled as far with a parrot as you plan to do. It was always car trips of two hours or less, with my old Yellow-crowned Amazon George, who loved car trips and staying in motels. In your case, I imagine you'd have to investigate restrictions on transporting a parrot across borders and into other countries. I suspect there would be plenty of "red tape" involved, and probably some cash outlay too. Some issues would depend on how you're traveling. Some U.S. states don't allow QPs to even be transported through the state or require a special permit to do so. Of course, you'd need a good travel cage, a supply of food and water, and toys and things to keep your parrot busy. Lots of things to consider, and I wish you luck.

We haven't yet traveled, but our little one is still just getting used to us at 10 months-- I'm writing because I really want to, in the future, though, and have begun the process of figuring out what sort of travel cage to get. I've heard good things about the Pak O Bird smaller backpacks, but it seems like you really want to have a chance to get your bird to try one out first. Do you have a travel cage/backpack option picked out yet? Also to consider: pet policies in the places you plan to stay! I will eagerly follow your posts about these plans

While I haven't traveled abroad with a feathered friend myself, I do have a friend who takes her parrot on trips occasionally. She always makes sure to check the specific requirements for pet travel and brings along familiar items like toys and perches to keep her parrot comfortable. By the way, have you ever considered looking into business class flights for a more relaxed and comfortable journey? It could be a nice treat for both you and Pepito!

I’m not sure that this is possible—taking a parrot with you for trips out of the country. I think there needs to be quarantine both entering and leaving the US. You’d best get some professional advice imo.
