I inherited my Mom’s Quaker, “Booty” after she passed in 2017. Booty is approximately 20 years old. Smart as a whip. Although, I haven’t been successful at teaching him any new words. Is this common with rescues?

Welcome to you and Booty! Rehomed parrots can continue learning new words well into old age. But any parrot will only learn new words when they choose to, and it isn't always the ones we want them to learn. Parrots have their own ideas about such things, but don't give up. Keep working with Booty and he may surprise you by saying something new.

Welcome to the forum! Casey is 14, he chooses the new words he wants to come out with, It’s not often the words I try lately Booty might just surprise you by himself. Casey learned himself to say hi papa after we had grandchildren and he heard them saying it
