Hello, our daughter bought a Quaker parrot and was unable to care for him unexpectedly after six months so he has been with us for a year and a half.
We call shark a he, but the bird’s gender is undetermined.
He is a good typical healthy Quaker. He has been on a pellet mix diet, egg food and some basic supplements along with regular fresh (favorite is broccoli slaw)
He is hand tamed, great at stepping up, is used to being handled and groomed constantly. He is used to free flight around our home at least an hour or so a day.
He is extremely talkative and doesn’t talk but does mimic laughter, dogs barking, cats meowing and whistles a few different melodies when the mood suits him. The Addams family is the funniest.
Known issues? Not an issue per se, other than the home is is best for; would need to be watched around dogs or cats for reasons other than one might think. He is overly familiar as he has lived around 3 friendly dogs and 2 largely indifferent cats who he bullies, so he would assume he can boss around any dog or cat he meets which could be dangerous.
He does seem to be more cautious of men with no good reason and can be terroritorial of his cage with anyone who he thinks he can bully. He never does it with those he is bonded with. We are a family of six and he is well bonded with me (middle aged woman, my daughter, 20s woman) and my 13 year old who handles him constantly.
He would come with his normal cage, supplies, a really sturdy travel cage (Prevue Pet Products Travel... www.amazon.com/dp/B074FCFG7K?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) his food mixture and bags of supplement and treats.
You can see some pics of him in our Instagram feed @boisepack
We are in Alexandria mn but would meet to get him to the right family in Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Madison etc.
We are asking a rehoming fee of $500. Shark and his supplies were $900.
