Hi everyone, I've had Alfie for 6 weeks now, we were told by the breeder he was 4months old and not hand reared, he will now come out of his cage by himself and climb all over us, he will even snuggle into my neck, especially if he thinks my partner is going to put him back in his cage. My worry is that he is still very scared of my hand, while teaching him to step up if I use my hand he will lunge at me aggressively and try to bite, however, if I use my arm he will step up happily, I have tried offering food by hand but he usually just snatches it and throws it, any advice would be great

As long as Alfie will step onto your arm, step ups are at least possible, so you can take your time to try to get him more comfortable with hands. Offering treats by hand is one of the usual ways to get a parrot used to having hands near him, so continue to do that-- even if Alfie rejects the treat. When you're sitting near Alfie's cage, hold your hands still, keeping them where he can see them to help him recognize that hands aren't a threat. Just be patient and take your time and Alfie should eventually get over his aversion to hands.
