HI All Cody has been with us for three weeks now and I thought was settling in well. He spends most of his day out of the cage on my shoulder on on top of my laptop 'helping' me work! He has plenty of exercise as he has the whole of the top floor of our house to fly around and has a varied diet. He is eating well. However. He has just had a bath and I have noticed that he has a very small but nevertheless big enough to see balding patch on the top of his left wing - where the wing meets the body closest to his face (if that makes sense) Its only visible when hes had a bath and hes bedraggled but Im a bit worried? Everything else seems healthy and hes started talking so I think he is happy and not bored? He will be 5 months next week - is this normal that its moulting or do you think I should be watching for plucking? Hes out of his cage almost the entire day so I would notice if he was plucking himself all the time but hes obviously done something? Hes not knocked himself whilst flying etc as hes always with me if hes out of his cage and I would have seen Any help would be greatly appreciated - its not completely bald just white feathers on show rather than his blue 'top coat' Help Im really worried!! Thanks Chloe

Can you get a picture of it next time he bathes? It's probably nothing to be too worried about, but a picture might help. The wing is not what I have seen to be the first place a plucker starts. (Not to say it couldn't be.) It would be helpful if you could actually examine the feathers that he has lost. A clean, intact shaft usually indicates a molted feather, and not a plucked one. Peppy is in the middle of molting some feathers right now.
