My Quaker, Pickles, is about 20 years old. We got him as a baby and he has been a lovely little character. When we first got him, we had a cockatiel who was of unknown age but we think about 10 years old. They were not "friends" exactly, they mainly aggravated each other and we had to keep them caged separately. But they had a "relationship" of sorts. When "Peachy" suddenly passed away, our little Quaker began picking at his lower belly and his lower back. We tried all sorts of things for years and nothing seemed to help. So we focus on loving him as he is and making his life as happy and predictable as possible - life being what it is. He goes through phases where he picks a lot, then he slows down. But just about the time things are growing back, he starts again. Otherwise, he is healthy and seems happy. He can say a number of phrases and greets me each morning with a lot of happiness. All that to say, I've come here because I want to do more with him now that I am retired and able to devote more attention. He has been finger trained but he is a biter and always has been. I can deal with that OK - but I have questions about things like flight suit/poop catchers, stands he can be on during the day when I am in a room upstairs where we could keep each other company, etc. I appreciate being part of the forum and will begin voraciously reading everything I can. Thank you!

Welcome to the forum to you and pickles. You will find lots of info reading through the forum. You can buy bird stands but you can also make a simple small one with pvc pipe and vet wrap. I don’t think a 20 year old parrot will take to a flight suit it might be easier to put a piece of newspaper under the stand. Like cnyguy said all questions are welcome. We might not have all the answers but we can try. My quaker Casey is 13.1/2

Hi there, and welcome to the Forum! I am in Australia and my husband and I have a 6-yo blue quaker called Bonnie. And you can probably guess...yes, she is a biter, too! I bought the Aviator flightsuit for her, but she got a fright whilst I was trying to put it on (a coincidental noise outside) and she won't go near it...
