Hello! I bought a Quaker about two months ago, named Nigel. I think he may have some past issues since I have trouble socializing him, but I'm going to give it a good shot. So far, I've made a few mistakes according to the breeder (feeding him the wrong type of food, and not grooming him properly), but I do want to do better. I hope here I can learn how to better take care of him! Although the breeder at the pet shop has offered to let me exchange him for a younger bird that is better hand trained, I think that would be a cop-out. I'm up for the challenge! Or at least to give it my best shot.

Welcome to the Forum, Will & Nigel! I'm a bit puzzled about the breeder's comment re you not grooming Nigel properly - as Quaker parrots groom themselves! Unless he means clipping the toenails or something. Anyway, ask any questions you wish!
