I have a newly rescued (a few weeks with us now) QP we named Bilbo (bc he took an unexpected journey, haha) - who knows what his origin is, but he was found inside the outbuildings of a local family, no one came forward over the course of a month of advertising and looking for his owners, he had no band or microchip, so I took him home. He's a pretty boy (calling him a boy even though I don't really know) and very sweet. He will *not* step up for anything but likes to take treats from our fingers, or from the palm of our hand, likes to be scratched on the back of his neck (his head puffs up and his eyes close) and makes the cutest sounds. He knew how to wolf-whistle when we brought him home, and my daughter taught him to make a smoochie noise when she says, 'Give me a kiss' - she's trying to do touch-training with him, to get him to step up, and he's at the point where he'll touch the stick with his beak if it's right close to him. Also today he walked down the outside of his cage, to where I was sitting next to the cage, and hopped over onto my shoulder! Sat on my shoulder for a minute, nibbled my hair, nibbled my necklace, nibbled my shirt, made the kissy noise when I said, 'Gimme a kiss!' took a sunflower seed, ate it, and then went back up on his cage. I felt like he had accepted me - it was pretty cool. Still won't step up though, lol. I put my arm next to his perch and he put his open beak on it, kind of scraping, looked at me, then put his open beak on it a little harder, like 'can I pinch an inch?' lol. I told him I didn't want him to bite me, thanks... and moved my arm a little further away. He could still reach my watch however, and attempted to murderize it, haha. Successfully frayed a bit of the band but was frustrated to not be able to get any of the other bits off. (It's a cheap walmart watch, I don't mind a bit, it was cute to watch) And then he hopped down to grab the chopstick my daughter had been using to touch train, and ran back to the top of his cage with it, haha! He spent several minutes moving it around, picking it up, putting it down, biting at it. I wonder if he was trying to see if he could still get treats if he manhandled it himself, lol!! Anyway - we're absolutely smitten with our little guy - he's darling. Can't wait till he loves us as much as we love him!
