Hi all, I noticed when i put my quaker in the cage he produces a clear slimy liquid and gulps it back then spits it back out so its still near the beak.
He is a 9 week old greenie.

I haven't any knowledge of this - haven't heard of it. Maybe a vet visit is in order? Welcome to the Forum, by the way.

That does sound like something that would be best discussed with a veterinarian, either an avian certified vet or one who is at least experienced in treating parrots.

My Quaker parrot Cookie has also experienced similar issues and it's really worrisome for me, there are no avian vets nearby and it's been extremely difficult to get a vet who understands her problems. So far she usually recovers in a day or two. Please keep this thread updated with the developments in your Quaker's health. How's He/She doing now ?

Hi All, I had similar experience with my 4mth old Quaker Freddie just the other day, I'd describe it as clear saliva coming out of its beak in long strings, head moving up & down to bring it up then shaking it all over to get rid of it. First time I noticed this didn't know what to make of it but by the afternoon I was at the vet - they fitted us in as all booked out. Freddie brought up saliva twice during our trip to the vet - 30 min drive. The avian vet rehydrated Freddie with an injection & gave him antifungal & antibacterial meds. Long story short, not sure what caused it but the rehydration & meds definitely helped. If your bird shows signs of not being himself, being quiet or lethargic do not wait, get professional help. Soon after buying my bird I looked around for a reliable avian vet - though not close to me - it definitely helped having the phone number ready.
