The new home I am in is a bit cold in the room where Skye's cage is in and last year I used an electric space heater behind his cage on low to keep his area at 74 degrees. This year my sister brought in a "eheat" space heater that is flat and taller and supposedly electric with a ceramic panel. Has anyone heard about these and are they safe??

I've always used an oil-filled radiator when needed. One thing you have to watch for in any space heater is Teflon. Assuming the e-heater doesn't have any, it is probably okay. I would let it burn off any smells of newness before using it around birds, though. If it is what I'm thinking of (flat panel, wall mounted), there is a similar design specifically for use around bird cages. If you have any doubt about what it is made of, I would call or email the manufacturer for clarification.

I bought an infra-red heat panel from a company called Avitech (I'm not affilited with them in any way) a few year's ago and Niki loved it. I mounted it on his back wall and it gave out a warm steady heat. I found that Niki would turn and face it when he got sleepy. I since moved and we aren't allowed to use screws in the walls so I wasn't sure how to mount it so last year I didn't use it. It's a warmer apartment, but I think I might see what I can do this year.
