Clyde has been hormonal. He's getting over it, but he's still a brat, and even when he's tired and wants to go to bed, he objects to the fact that Rocky and his taxi leave the room with me, while he and Freddie have to go night-night. He flies at me and often chomps the back of my neck and he waits until I'm lifting Rocky's taxi up the two steps from the birds' room to the hallway to do it. My hands are busy and I can't defend myself.
Several times during this proceeding, Rocky has bonked me in the forehead with his beak. I also can't defend myself from HIM because I'm lifting his taxi at the time. But last night, I happened to look at him and realized he wasn't looking at ME, he was looking at Clyde and in fact, the bonk was accidental. He was actually trying to defend me from Clyde, except Clyde was on my back and I was between them and he couldn't do anything but bonk me.
Now, I'm not about to let Rocky go at Clyde no matter what his good intentions might be, so I told him I've been fighting with Clyde for 11 years plus now, and while I appreciate his efforts, they really aren't necessary and he should not feel obligated to protect me from a little spitfire of a bully Quaker. He actually seemed to grasp this, and stopped. He lifted his crest halfway (which is Rocky-ese for "I don't quite understand") but he looked away from Clyde and put his crest back down.
It's a darned shame I can't reason with Clyde the same way. Perhaps I should tell him if he doesn't go to bed properly and stop being a brat, I'll set Rocky on him. LOL
