Hello! I'm new to the site and would appreciate any/all info.
I've been blessed to have owned (or was I owned? LOL) by several parakeets and cockatiels, but am talking with a lady (online; lives a few towns over from me) who is selling her 2 Quaker Parrots.
7-year-old Skittles and 3-year-old Bella; she cannot tell me how many owners each had prior to her (she's had them a year and each were purchased from two different owners).
I haven't gone to see/visit with them yet, but am hoping someone can give me some pointers/tell me what all questions I should ask.
Thank you in advance!
~Samantha

You could ask if they have been checked by a vet to be healthy. You should check to see if they are on a pellet diet or if she is just feeding seed. Can they be handled or are they bonded to each other? Are they in one cage or two and do they come with their cage?... If you visit you will see for yourself if they have been well cared for and look healthy and if they are handled. Hopefully others will come by with some more pointers.

It's a great advantage to have a current owner available to answer questions. I've wished for that many times when I've tried to puzzle through some odd behavior. Food preferences, gender preferences, bathing habits, vocabulary, etc. Has the owner attempted any training, and if so, how did she go about it. (Not that you necessarily want to do the same thing, but it might give you some clues to current behavior.) Any idiosynchrocies, like "hates anyone wearing a hat." Anything specific that they are afraid of. Favorite toys. Any interactions with other pets. Also, get vet records if any are available. Basically, if you can think of it, ask. To start with, I would ask her to describe a typical day in the life of the two birds.
