Benjy died on Saturday. I was at work and when I got home and couldn't find him, and Clyde was being extra clingy (they were buddies) I knew. Benjy would have turned 11 this coming Sunday. Now we're down to three birds (Clyde, Freddie and Rocky). I haven't had this few for years. And Clyde is still very clingy. He pretended he only tolerated Benjy, but he misses him.

So sorry about Benjy's passing. He was a tough little budgie and endured a lot in his eleven years. Since he was Clyde's constant companion, I'm sure Clyde misses him, as you do. My sympathy to you and the flock.

I felt like I was punched in the gut when I saw this news on Facebook. What a tough little bird he was! I'm so sorry for your loss, Benjy will be missed.

A fellow crazy bird lady friend of mine nicknamed him Sir Benjamin Bada**. He was a tough cookie and he could talk up a storm when he wanted to. It's a lot quieter in the bird room now, though Freddie, bless his little heart, is doing his best. He whistles and chirps and mimics everybody.
Going from six birds to three in a month is surreal. (Jade is well and happy and living with the aforementioned friend). The room where Ringo lived is open to the rest of the house now, and my dog can't get over the fact that he can go in there now. He goes in and just stands in the middle looking around a couple of times a day. I don't have to clean up bird poop in there anymore. Clyde and Freddie's room takes a fraction of the time to clean because they both have very specific poop spots and neither one dunks their food in the water. I take Rocky in there on his taxi and everybody gets enough attention. Jack wants to go in there, too, but he's not allowed to. We're thinking of turning Ringo's old room in the bird room since we only have two who need a room (Rocky's cage is in the living room; he can't be trusted alone with the little birds), which would open that back room up and provide access to the back door. Ever since we moved into that house, that back room has been the bird room and we've had to come and go only through the front door. Ringo's old room is the second bedroom and I keep all my clothes and my dressing table in there, so I'd have to dodge Clyde to get ready in the morning, but I did it dodging Ringo, so I can manage that.
So, it's quieter and it's cleaner and I don't have so many chores to do and don't have to spread the attention around as thin, but doggone it, I miss them. All of them.

That would take some getting used to, for sure. But the calmness is really nice, I imagine! 😊

The fewer chores is nice. But I painted the woodwork in there yesterday to cover the poop stains I couldn't get off the window frames and the back of the door where Ringo liked to sit and that was hard. I felt like I was erasing HER.

I haven't been on the Forum for a bit - I'm sorry about Benjy. Of course you miss all of your birds. You can't erase Ringo or any of them by cleaning...they'll be in your heart and memories for ever.

Been a long time since I have been around, sorry guys!! But saw this and wanted to say sorry about Benjy... I can imagine it would be a huge adjustment to go from six to three in the flock! Our little friends are so important in our lives...

Haven't been around for a while and am shocked that you have gone from 6 to 3 birds. I am sorry to hear about Ringo and Benjy. That little budgie lived longer than most of them so you have been a wonderful bird mum to give him such a long life.
