ok my son had noticed both my birds have pieces missing from there beak, I think it is from trying to eat the cage to get out. I have separated the 2 because the male was being very mean to the female. so far so good. we been letting them out one at a time for a few days. yesterday i let them out together which they did ok. How can i get them to stop trying to peel the cage apart?

It is hard to convince a bird not to chew on something that you can't take away from them. Best thing you can do is to make sure you have a cage that can withstand the abuse. Powder coated or stainless steel are my recommendations. No zinc. It is toxic. Birds that don't tolerate each other well inside a single cage often will do fine outside of it. That's not to say you shouldn't keep a close eye on them.
