I want to get a harness for my quaker so he can sit outside with me but don't know where to start. What is the best one to buy and how do you figure out what size?

Years ago we tried Casey with an extra small aviator harness, she did not like it. So instead we got her a nice travel carrier so she could safely get fresh air outside with us in the summer.

I do have a nice backpack carrier but would like to try a harness. From my research, it looks like the aviator harness might be the best to try but im looking for input on this

A lot of parronts seem to like the Aviator harness, but it usually takes some special effort to get the parrot to accept it and get accustomed to it. I've never tried a harness with either of my parrots because I know neither of them would tolerate it. I have a small cage that's used as the transport cage when either parrot goes anywhere (separately).

We tried the Aviator and our Bonnie would not take to it (mainly because there was a really loud noise outside as I was trying to put it on her, so she freaked out and wouldn't look at it afterwards). However, you could check out another product, can't remember the web address, but if you search for 'diapers for birds' it will come up. I think this product is the best thing I've seen so far in terms of offering the bird uncaged participation outside. Just email them and say you have a quaker parrot and ask for the correct size. I have one and am planning to train Bonnie into it soon, just got diverted for awhile due to interstate move...etc. I should have got my s*** together sooner with it.

I took the plunge and ordered the aviator harness because it had the best reviews. I hope i ordered the right size. I ordered petite for up to 110grams cause ive read that the blue Quakers are smaller than the green. I don't even have my Quaker yet because he isn't fully weaned yet. He'll be 8 weeks old this Friday. We're hoping another two weeks we can bring him home. Im very excited and im glad the breeder won't release him until he's ready but this waiting is so hard!

Casey’s weight has always been around 92 grams or so I think the harness will come with lots of pointers on how to succeed. I would wait a bit to try it as he will already have lots of change with a new home and needs to get used to you I remember my daughter had Casey in hers for one walk and she worried the whole time it was on correctly. Maybe lots of practice inside first

My plan is to just leave it laying near his training perch for a while with hopes that he gets curious at some point and actually touchs it. I know it might take awhile but it will be worth it if we ever get to use it
