Hello QP lovers. I am here with my new QP Pickles and I have had her for about 4 months. She was born in August and is doing considerably better than when I first purchased her. She had stress marks on all her feathers, was a dull green color and tried to nip everyone/very scared.
I immediately took her to the vet the day after and had her sex DNA tested, along with a full check up. She was put on an antibiotic for 2 weeks and I have improved her diet with fresh veggies, pellets, nuts, seed mix, etc. (I owned a QP before) Her feathers are looking considerably better, her demeaner has improved and so far so good....
She is still slightly *moody* at times, grumbling, a little nippy but never a bite. Perhaps that is just HER.

Welcome to you and Pickles. It isn't unusual for a parrot to be moody; sometimes, it may seem like parrots have multiple personalities. And QPs do like to grumble sometimes too.

Welcome to the forum, it sounds like you have made great progress with Pickles. We’ve been lucky Casey is very easy going but one piece of advice I got years ago on this forum was to move toys and perches around the cage often so your Quaker doesn’t get possessive of his or her cage. That worked for us, I can reach into Casey’s cage at any time and she doesn’t care. That said I make her new toys as old ones get chewed but I don’t move things as much or as often now since she is calm and older

Yes the last Quaker I had was a sweetheart, always purring and preening me. He was a male Blue Quaker. I really miss him.

They are all different in terms of bonding to one person or another... Welcome to the Forum! You did the right thing by taking your Pickles to the vet and it sounds like she has a great new family!
