Hi everyone. I've had my Quaker for 6 weeks now (he's about 14 weeks old) and he certainly has an issue with hands. I got him from an avery but the owner had 2 children who I think may have gone in the avery grabbing at them? I was trying to slowly get my hand into his cage and this went well but only up to a certain extent. I have had to picked him up over his back in the cage a few times and he is shaky at first but never bitten me and calms down after a couple of minutes of holding him and will even eat out of my other hand. He seems happy with some head rubs and doesn't struggle to fly away. He goes in and out of his cage on his own when I leave the door open and will let me put my face inches away but as soon as he sees a hand he gets scared. Am I making it worse by trying to hold him or what can I do to calm his initial fear of the hand?
