Hello everyone so glad to find this forum to help me and my little Buddy out. He’s 10 weeks old and I got him 3 weeks ago from a breeder although they were in an aviary. I look forward to hearing all the funny stories and seeking your advice when I need it. We live in sunny Sydney and I’m trying to keep him cool with water sprays which he loves and sometimes a shallow dish with water in the bottom of his cage while I’m out so he can cool off if he needs to. It’s been really hot here lately!

Hi there, fellow Aussie!  I'm in Darwin (grew up in Melbourne and moved up nearly 2 years ago). You will really enjoy this forum and the wealth of information on here. The people are really nice. Spraying your little Buddy is a great idea. Some people put a little aloe vera in the water they spray on their feathered friends (on here we call them FIDS=Feathered Kids!) to condition their feathers. Thanks Biteybird! I’m originally from UK but been in Sydney for the last 10 years. That’s a good idea about the Aloe and I will get some today to add to the water spray. I usually spray it from above the cage and he will come out on the perch, put his head up facing the water and squint his eyes. So cute!
Any suggestions on what Aloe to get?

Any suggestions on what Aloe to get? Hi again! We don't personally use the Aloe, so unfortunately I have no suggestions about it... However, I remember that some posts on this Forum have discussed it - I'd try a keyword search for aloe (see one of the tabs/links at top) and it might come up. Good luck! |
