Mean, agressive nasty little biter she was! Apparently it was those uncomfortable pin feathers trying to come in on the back of her neck making her such a grouch. Still a couple more pins to open, but I have my sweet little girl back. Here's my new problem: (sighh)... Took her 5 months to trust me enough to step up and happily get on my finger. On the 4th day of joyous trust and successful stepping up, I decided she needed her nails trimmed and band removed. She hopped right on my finger and then I put her in her travel cage. Off we went in the car, got her nails trimmed and band off, back into her travel cage, then home again. It's been two weeks and she is now fearful of me and runs when I offer my hand/finger for her to step up. She won't come to me at all! If I want her, I have to catch her then hold on to her. She finally stops trembling when she realizes I have a treat for her and it's play time. I just hate I took her for her nail trim! I feel I lost all I worked so hard for over 5 mos with her! I wonder if she'll EVER step up again for me? 😔

It's probably been mentioned before, but lots of us quaker slaves just buy cement perches to keep our "God"'s nails down. Our nearly-5yo Bonnie has never had to have her nails trimmed. Just keep offering rewards as you are doing, but don't catch her or force her to have contact with your hand/finger to step up. My best advice is just to leave her be, but open the cage door and let her decide if she wants to come to you - don't chase her. Keep offering her treats without the expectation of stepping up and she may surprise you.

Thanks, biteybird. You always have such sound advice! Will do as you suggest. She has a cement perch that she apparently doesn't like and ignores quite well. I keep it in her cage for her in the off chance that someday she'll change her mind. As for lost trust, I'll be here whenever she decides I'm worthy. Lol!
