Hello All! My family and I recently brought home a hand fed baby Quaker. His name is Milo. He’s about 3 months old. Since coming home it took some adjusting for him to socialize with us and stop trying to nip at us. Now he loves being out of his cage and hangs on top of his cage or on anyone’s shoulder. Today and yesterday I noticed him doing something funny that I originally thought was him yawning. When I click my tongue he comes very close to me and puffs up all of his feathers. Then he looks a bit like he’s dancing and slinks around atop his cage. He’s also opening his mouth really wide as if to accept food maybe? Or offer food? This is my first time owning a Quaker and he doesn’t seem in pain or anything when he does this, more like posturing. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Sounds like mating behavior. Best not to encourage it, and since it seems to be set off by tongue clicking, you might want to give up the tongue clicks.

Is he bobbing his head up and down and doing little wing flaps? If so, it could be leftover baby-begging behaviour (asking to be fed). Welcome, by the way!
