Hi Everyone. I'm Cleo and I just brought home my Quaker baby, born 9/2/18. She's DNA female and I haven't settled on a name yet. I have a pineapple green cheek conure named Rosey too. My dear African Grey, Bubba, passed 2years ago from old age. I got him as a Christmas present when I was 5. My 1st bird was a budgie named Lucky. He was a present from my grandpa when I was 4. I had a cockatiel 30+- yrs ago. He passed of old age too. So, not new to parrots/parakeets but after a year of research & every utube vids I decided upon a quaker. My baby is blue, eating & drinking well, from a fab breeder. I totally adore & love her already! I joined this group to ensure she lives the best life possible. Im retired & disabled so im always home. Research is a great start but the knowledge & experience of folks who already have a Quaker is unsurpassed. So, im here to learn from you.

Thank you for the welcome! I've already learned a lot from previous posts. My baby's name is Angel. There isn't any other name that fits her better. She is so sweet & and loving I'm amazed. She does get peeved when she cant do something yet and insists I fix it. Like perchs too far apart. Toys not in optimal spot, etc. lol Shes still such a baby she doesnt have the strength, skill, or confidence but shes better every day. She likes to sleep in my hand, prefers I wear blue, and bosses my toy poodles around. She doesnt like to get very far away from me yet so I hope as her confidence grows, this will improve. I think Quakers are the best kept secret of the bird world. One look from those beautiful soft eyes makes me melt.

I think Quakers are the best kept secret of the bird world. One look from those beautiful soft eyes makes me melt. ...until their hormones kick in and they try to peck your eyes out and make you bleed... But, yes, you are correct! We love our quaker, even though sometimes her behaviour is totally inexplicable and annoying. Every day she amazes me in some small way. Their intelligence is amazing. They are 'high maintenance' but it's worth it. Relish the 'baby' months while you can.
